For centuries, Mexico has fascinated millions by the surreality that is lived day by day in our country.
Many times the Mexican decorative expression reaches extremes where it could be considered as bad taste. Mexikitsch seeks to rescue these kitsch elements from local traditions and accentuate them to somehow exalt these practices that are often overlooked or misrepresented.
The main inspiration is the celebrations of Quinceañeras and Mexican Lucha Libre. By mixing the extreme femininity of the celebrations of quinceañera with the super masculine elements of wrestling, I seek to present a new idea of what kitsch means in our country.
The silhouette extracts key elements of the quinceañera dress and the fighter's suit and mixes this juxtaposition of concepts through the color palette and the materials.
