Richard Sennet mentions that every craft is work impulsed by quality and a constant search for excellence. Programming, in particular, is based on a whole philosophy of improvement and logic processes; regularly seen in handmade traditional crafts like embroidering, weaving and structures. The concept of technology and machine-aided work does not mean the absence of human intervention. Now, more than ever, it is pertinent to understand how the past informs the future. This new wave of “cybercraftsmen” will be the ones responsible for building the bridges we’ll cross tomorrow.
CRAFTECH intends to materialize the concept of how programming is the craft of the digital age and represent the conversation it shares with ancient practices and technologies, especially with native American cultures.
